"Miss Congeniality" Had an Identification Situation, Sandra Bullock Saved it From Disaster

Miss Congeniality - two Stars (Common)

"Miss Congeniality" had a genuine identity difficulty as a movie. Unfortunately for Sandra Bullock, the star of serial comedy the film as FBI agent Gracie Hart, Skip Congeniality could not consider her as far as her performance merited.

She did win a second Golden Globe nomination for Very best Actress in a Musical or Comedy her initial was the very same nomination for her function as Lucy in "Though You Have been Sleeping".

Introduced in 2000, Miss Congeniality is not a drama, an motion journey, a police flick, a comedy or a romantic comedy. It is a mismatch of all and a master of none. When you include in the corny, juvenile, inappropriate dialog, the movie is lucky it had Sandra Bullock as its centerpiece since with out her, it would have been over and above dismal.

In other words, the writers of Skip Congeniality-Marc Lawrence, Katie Ford and Caryn Lucas (and these may be the only types who were ready to take credit for the script)-did not include significantly past the plot.

Gracie Hart is cast as an unattractive, disheveled, bumbling FBI agent who has no existence outside of her 24/seven commitment to her task. When it is identified that a wacko, serial killer has set his sights on a Miss United States magnificence pageant, Agent Hart is a reluctant last option to go undercover.

Hart is these kinds of a inadequate choice that beauty advisor Victor Melling (played by veteran Michael Caine) is brought in to polish her overall look and performance as Skip New Jersey. Melling has two days to get the occupation done this is just a person illustration of an unbelievably undesirable script even in this wannabe comedy, practically nothing rings genuine. It is like acquiring a chair with no legs.

When the genuine serial killer is caught prior to the pageant ends, the FBI will get up and leaves. Hart realizes that something is amiss and hangs about on her personal, suspecting that the most modern letter from the killer is authored by a copycat killer for usefulness. You will have to see the film for the rest.

Even director Donald Petrie could not completely manage the total of glut in Skip Congeniality's script. There have been enough sidesteps, missteps and sight gags for a novelist to publish a trilogy, and none of them labored all that very well. Petrie cut some of the crap out, but the writers have been hoping to make a job out of composing a person script.

Sufficient carping. Miss Congeniality had a number of excellent moments, but I would not look at it a second time. One particular real good was the closing even now picture of Sandra Bullock at the conclusion of the film-she under no circumstances looked much better.
